Estelle from Axelle is Swell!

Imagine, dear reader, how fast my heart beat when I made one of my frequent visits to Axelle de Sauveterre's blog (http://two_pointy_sticks.blogspot.com) and saw this delicious mass of her hand-dyed cashmere -- and then read on to discover it was headed for ME! Yes, me!! (Well, to Yarnzilla, which is a lot like me, except it has a lot less yarn -- ha! ha ha! hahaha!)

Axelle's latest shipment will be in the shop sometime this week (her first shipment sold out almost immediately, btw), so local shoppers in the Minneapolis area, come on in and see how gorgeous this amazing yarn is in person. I knitted up a Clapotis from this cashmere in the color "Briar Rose" and have it on display in the store -- every time someone tries it on, I see this thought flash through their eyes for a nanosecond: "If I run for the door fast enough, I can probably make it to my car before that elephantine shop owner has time to throw down her knitting and catch me . . ." Cashmere so extraordinary it makes good people turn bad -- now that's what I call yarn! (P.S. to would-be felons: I'm faster than I look, and I'm prepared to go all Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon" on anyone who even looks funny at my cashmere Clapotis!!!)

About the price, for a moment. We sell Estelle hand-dyed cashmere for $40 per 200-yard skein. I know forty dollars sounds like a lot in the abstract, but after attending TNNA (the national trade show for yarn store owners) last week, I'm convinced it's a downright bargain -- the least expensive cashmere I could find in a weight comparable to Estelle retailed for $36 per skein. And trust me -- Axelle's extraordinary palette takes cashmere to a dimension far beyond the pallid blue, yellow, and pink skeins I was being offered. And don't forget the Yarnzilla punchcard, which automatically applies a discount to all orders over $50 -- that brings the price most definitely into the realm of spendy-but-reasonable.

We've ordered 6 skeins each in about 19 colors, and most of the colors are new to us and don't replicate the first shipment. Hmmm . . . how many Clapotis can one neck support?!?!

Note: All the cashmere is now up on the website -- check it out!

As promised, a comment! I'm totally coming back to buy some of this cashmere for myself. I wrote mostly about the shop on my site today. Thanks for helping me pick out yarn!

That is absoulutely stunning yarn...I lost my breath there for a second. It's a good thing I don't own a yarn store as I would probably be discovered sleeping in a big pile of it when the customers arrived in the morning and my career would end in shame. I do agree that you've set a a very reasonable price.

Enjoyed visiting your site!

Hi, Guinifer! All the cashmere is up on the website, with accompanying inventory levels so there's no guesswork as to how much of each color we have on hand. Thanks for your comment! : ))

Hi, Wendy! No one's made socks *yet* -- many Clapotis (Clapotises?)to the best of my knowledge. The socks would be totally luscious, but would need to be babied a bit. The A.L. de Sauveterre cashmere would make fabulous wristers, wimples, and fingerless gloves, IMO . . .
