Sneak Peek . . .
The latest issue of "Vogue Knitting" magazine is now in-stock at the shop, and knitting teacher par excellence Nancy Ruehle is busy knitting up this little number, which we'll offer as a class in November:

This garment -- a shrug or capelet -- calls for a super-mega-bulky-chunky yarn, but Nancy and I both felt it would drape much more nicely in a somewhat lighter-weight yarn, so her model is being knit in Misti Chunky Baby Alpaca (Nancy had to change the stitch and row count in order to accommodate the lighter yarn, which of course will be part of what's covered in class).
In other Vogue Knitting news, by the end of the week we should have kits to knit the gorgeous Koigu skirt from the Fall '05 VK -- thank you, Taiu! We'll put them up on the website just as quickly as we can get the yarns photographed, but there aren't that many to go around, so if you know you'd like one, please don't hesitate to email me at linda@yarnzilla.com.
Local folks, I'll keep you posted via email when Nancy's shrug class becomes available -- it'll make a perfect gift for aunts, moms, grandmas, teachers, sisters, cousins, etc.! It's terrific, too, for people who are allergic to wool, as alpaca and wool come from whole different phyllums or species, or whatever the correct ethnobiological word might be . . .
